The railway department has canceled tenders inviting private companies to operate trains following a quiet response, Parliament said on Wednesday.
Bids have been invited to import 151 trains in 12 batches through a private government partnership (PPP). RFP stage tenders opened in July this year.
In all 5 bids are available in three categories namely Cluster-2 (Mumbai-2), Cluster-3 (Delhi-1) and Cluster4 (Delhi-2); no bids have been received in the remaining 9 categories, “Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told Lok Sabha. The Minister added that the Tender Committee, after careful consideration, recommended the award of the tender.
“The Competent Authority has accepted the recommendations of the tender committee,” he said.
